Switching to Local

It's easier than you think.

Switching banks is a pretty big move, and it’s totally normal to feel a little unsure about what comes next. You might be asking yourself things like:

  • “How do I even close my old accounts?”
  • “Where do I start?”
  • “Is there paperwork I need to fill out?”

You’re not alone—these are the questions most people have when they’re thinking about changing banks. At Century Bank, we get that having clear instructions all in one place can make the whole process feel a lot easier. That’s why we put together a switch kit to help make the process easier. It walks you through everything step by step so joining our bank feels simple, not stressful.

With just five easy steps, you can move your personal accounts over to Century Bank and get settled in with us.

STEP 1:

Open a Century Bank Personal or Business Checking or Savings account and make your first deposit.

Not sure which accounts fit your needs? Our team is here to help you sort through the different products and services we offer. You’re always welcome to call or stop by your local branch to chat with someone who can walk you through the options. You can also browse our Personal or Business accounts and services online anytime.

 STEP 2:

Wondering what to set up when you first get started?

This is the perfect moment to request your debit card, order checks, and enroll in online banking. If you’d like to explore additional tools—like remote deposit, merchant services, or ACH options—we can help with that too. Give us a call, swing by a branch, or use the contact form below and we’ll guide you through the setup.

STEP 3:

 KEEP OLD ACCOUNTS

Keep your old account open just a little longer—until all your checks have cleared and any automatic payments or deposits have been switched over to your new Century checking account. That way everything moves smoothly without any surprises.

STEP 4:

UPDATE SCHEDULED PAYMENTS:

When you’re switching over your automatic payments, make sure you’ve got your new account number, routing number, and debit card info (including the expiration date) nearby. The worksheets below can help you jot down and keep track of everything you’ll need to update.

STEP 5:

CLOSING YOUR OLD ACCOUNT(S)

Once everything has cleared your old account, you’re all set to close it out. You can do this over the phone or by stopping into a branch—whichever is easiest for you. Just be sure to ask for written confirmation so you have it for your records.
