Tell us a little about yourself — how did you find your way into small business banking?
Tell us a little about yourself — how did you find your way into small business banking?
Since the beginning of my career with Century Bank, becoming a Small Business lender has always been a personal goal of mine. This aspiration stems from my passion for supporting our local small business community by providing the financial resources they need to grow, thrive, and succeed.
What is it about working with small business owners specifically that keeps you passionate about this work?
Small businesses are the foundation of our communities and the broader economy. Continued support of local vendors is essential to fostering sustainable growth, creating jobs, and ensuring that capital remains circulating within our community.
You've worked with a lot of businesses in this community. What's one thing the most successful ones seem to have in common?
Through my recent work with small businesses, I have found that they commonly demonstrate a deeply rooted culture marked by strong customer commitment and highly dedicated, loyal employees. These businesses are frequently grounded in shared morals and values, which support long-term business success and reinforce the overall vitality of our community.
For a small business owner who feels like their bank is just a place they deposit checks — what would you want them to know about what a real banking relationship can look like?
I would want them to know that Century Bank is one of the few remaining community banks in New Mexico, deeply committed to serving the financial needs of both local businesses and individuals. Unlike larger financial institutions, we pride ourselves on supporting our community through a personalized, relationship-based approach that is often absent in larger corporate banking environments.
What's the most common financial challenge you see small business owners run into, and what's your advice for getting ahead of it?
Many small business owners may not be fully aware of the range of accessible resources available through Century Bank. We offer a broad variety of products and services designed to support the financial structure, organization, and growth of their businesses. I encourage anyone interested to visit one of our locations to learn more about how our services can support their financial goals.
What do you love most about being part of the Santa Fe business community — and what excites you about where it's headed?
Over the past decade, our community has experienced substantial growth and development. This expansion has created meaningful opportunities for local small businesses to increase their prosperity, while also fostering a supportive environment for new enterprises to launch and succeed. I look forward to seeing the continued opportunities that emerge within our community as small business development continues to evolve.
